A social media user added a video to Facebook with the below note.
“The last wish of a 6-year-old boy suffering from cancer in northern Germany was to see motorcyclists circling around his house. According to the family, about 30 people were found, but in the end, 20,000 motorcyclists volunteered. That was the child’s last happiness. ”
These posts went viral on Facebook.
First, we analyzed the viral video carefully and were able to identify that there were two main parts to this video, indicating the possibility of two different clips.
Then, we did a reverse image search using Invid – We Verify tool and was able to find the roots of this video.
First part of this video had been taken from a video footage, uploaded on 14th of June 2021, which stated that over a million bikers had joined a motor parade in Sao Paulo, led by Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro.
We were able to find a few news reports about the incident shown in this video footage as well and can be reached from here and here.
According to these reports, and the video caption, Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro had organized this motorbike parade to protest against the governors and mayors who had imposed lockdowns in their states and cities to mitigate the risk of COVID19 spread.
Then, we directed our attention towards the second part of the viral video which displays a kid who is sitting on a chair waving to the motorcyclists.
Reverse image search of the video frames led us to the below video from July 2021, which included the clips which were used in the second part of the viral video. The video description stated that “20.000 Bikers drove to the house of a 6-year-old with terminal cancer in northern Germany. His last wish was to see bikers driving past his house…”
We were able to find several new reports and a number of stock images which were in line with the above description as well. One such report can be read from here.
