The summer transfer window is officially open and it’s a huge one for Chelsea Football Club. A new era has begun –one that sees Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital’s consortium in charge of the west London club.

There are set to be a mass amount of incomings as the transfer window progresses. The Blues have been in talks with Ousmane Dembele, football.london understands, while Jules Kounde is of strong interest to Chelsea for the second summer on the bounce.

There have been numerous other players linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but there may need to try and balance the books. Boehly has the money to spend when it comes to signing players, but any businessman will look to get rid of any unneeded members of the squad. So, with all of this being said, football.london takes a look at four players due to return from loan spells that could be sold this summer …

Emerson Palmieri

Emerson spent the 2021/22 season on loan at French outfit Lyon and with the Italian due to return to Chelsea in the coming weeks, his future remains uncertain. The left-back recently said: “I didn’t speak with Thomas Tuchel yet.

“I have a contract with Chelsea. I played there for three seasons and I have a lot of friends there and if I come back, I’ll be happy. It’s a good place and club for me. I don’t know [whether I will return]let’s see what can happen. “

Chelsea are in the market for a new left-back and football.london understands that Borna Sosa could be the man the Blues turn to. Sosa is of keen interest to the west Londoners and is a cheaper alternative to fellow target Marc Cucurella.

Emerson value: £ 12.7m (via CIES)

Tiemoue Bakayoko

Bakayoko just concluded his first season of a two-year loan contract with AC Milan. However, there are some rumors that his deal may be cut short, with other interested parties.

The Frenchman has just over two years remaining on his contract with Chelsea, who would be open to offloading the midfielder on a permanent basis. After signing for the Blues in 2017 for £ 36million, Bakayoko has been through four loan spells with four different clubs.

Michy Batshuayi

Batshuayi still has just over 12 months remaining on his contract with Chelsea. The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Besiktas –where he scored 14 goals in 32 matches in the league.

The Turkish club are supposedly interested in bringing Batshuayi in for another year at least this summer. After joining Chelsea in 2016 for £ 35m, the Belgian struggled to make the desired impact at Stamford Bridge after such high expectations.

Baba Rahman

Rahman spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Reading, where the left-back played 29 times in the Championship. The Ghanaian still has two years remaining on his Chelsea contract, but the Blues could look to offload him permanently if there are any interested parties this summer.

However, if that is not the case, then the 27-year-old could see out the final two years of his contract on loan elsewhere.
